Fortune Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant

Rarely do I leave the house without my camera.  I forget the phone sometimes but never the camera.  But what good is a camera without a memory card.  Turning it on only to find no memory card seems to have occurred more than once, and I should find a solution already so that it doesn’t happen again.  Consequently, my visit to Fortune Dynasty is shot entirely on the iPhone.  Lesson learned, my next project will be to make a memory card keychain of some sort.

The Pearl of Asia Chinese Cuisine

If you had to make quick errands, read movie purchases, at Oriental Centre, you may have noticed this large restaurant located on the second level of the mall.  I made reservations at The Pearl of Asia for dinner one weekend rather than dropping in because I knew this restaurant always has wedding dinners and other parties to accommodate during weekends.  Unsurprisingly, most of the restaurant space was booked for a grand event that Saturday so tables for regular diners were merely a small room to the side.  But I can’t be bothered.  It’s a lot quieter to say the least.

Congee Star Chinese Restaurant

There’s a pretty good reason why I chose to visit Congee Star.  In Cantonese, there’s an expression to describe what we know as ‘twinkie’ or ‘banana’ – yellow on the outside, white on the inside.  That term is called ‘Jook Sing’.   As for Congee Star, I’m not sure if the owner meant to use a pun but Congee Star’s direct translation to Cantonese is ‘Jook Sing’, where it sounds the same as the term I was referring to but written differently in Chinese.  Whatever it is, I’ve never tried this restaurant before so I figured why not?  And yes, if your restaurant has a great name, chances are I will be more inclined to give it a second look.

Seafood Dinner On Lamma Island, Hong Kong

For as long as I remember, Lamma Island is the go-to place for eating seafood.  After a spontaneous hike it was time for dinner.  Let’s see how the seafood lined up to my expectations.

Fantasy Eatery Chinese Restaurant

I’ve been a long fan of the Fantasy Eatery in Scarborough since its inception.  But I haven’t been back in recent years.  Don’t get me wrong, this restaurant has some of the best dishes at the lowest prices.  But perhaps the number of food choices in Toronto is so phenomenal that I tend to ignore once frequented restaurants.  Today, I rediscover this gem at their newer location in Richmond Hill.
