…temporarily, at least.  It’s also the reason I haven’t been updating this website as of late since I’m scrambling to get things done.  You’d think I’m crazy if I told you I’m moving there because I loved most of what I ate right?  It would make a great argument but not quite the reason why this is happening.  I took on an opportunity to work at a Japanese company.

Why should you care?  It’s simply an FYI in case you’re wondering why I lack coverage of Toronto’s food scene.  And also because I plan on covering everything from food to potentially your next vacation spot in Japan.  So not to worry one bit because I’ll still be updating this website.  I look forward to posting videos of my adventures too.  It should be exciting for the both of us.

At the moment, I’m feeling ecstatic.  There’s always an opportunity cost to everything we do and there are many things I’ll be leaving behind, but I feel I’ll be gaining a lot more from this.  On a similar note, I’ve always been keen on pursuing my passions because that’s what makes me happy and I will find a way to make that happen.  I ask myself each day: is this what I want to be doing today if something unfortunate were to happen tomorrow?  If not, something needs to change.  Right now, that’s moving to Japan to meet interesting people, work on new projects, travel to new areas, and discover new food.

Sure, some of you may be dreading work every Monday yet keep at it to make ends meet.  But setting aside basic needs, ask yourself the same question.  Truth is that once you find what you like and stick with it, everything else will fall in place.  Yes, that means money too.  And more often than not, enough to get the top material things on your list.  Remember, there’s no such thing as earning all the money in the world, but there is such thing as enjoying life anyway.

It’s human behavior that doing something you like will cause you to want to do it even better.  If you haven’t found what you want to be doing yet, keep looking.  Doing something without knowing what the result will be is better than sticking with what’s in your comfort zone and not getting anywhere while grumbling over it.  It will take time, dedication, and jumping over obstacles, but will be too fulfilling to even dwell on the hardships.  As Confucius would put it: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  I’m already on the journey, and happen to love writing about my food and travel adventures in between, what about you?

So packed are my bags.  Said are my goodbyes.  But one last thing!  If there are any foodies in Tokyo reading this, I’m looking for some dining buddies.  Contact me and let’s eat!  Cheers.
