Formosa, short for Illa Formosa or Beautiful Isle, is Taiwan’s alias. I absolutely agree with this given the beautiful land surrounded entirely by sea water that nature granted. I had the opportunity to see this for myself when visiting Yehliu Geopark on the north coast of the island, featuring rock formations. Yes, rocks, amazingly gorgeous rocks.
Who is Chiang Kai-shek you ask? Well that’s exactly what I was wondering when I decided to go visit a memorial dedicated to this fellow. I found out from the exhibits that he was an influential political leader and became the president of the Republic of China, or Taiwan if you will. So why did I decide to visit Chiang Kai-shek memorial? I hear good things about the amazing architecture surrounding this memorial and of course, I wanted to see how Taiwanese guards changed shifts.
So after stuffing myself with so many street eats in Danshui, I headed to Fisherman’s Wharf to enjoy the rest of my evening in Taipei. Fisherman’s Wharf is known for their laid back environment where visitors sightsee, relax, and eat lots of seafood. The ambiance is what I particularly love about this place. I’ll let the photographs speak for themselves because they say more of Fisherman’s Wharf than I can ever put into words.
Any enthusiast traveler knows the importance of doing their research before heading out. This is especially important for those traveling on tight budgets because through research you get a better estimate of what you’re looking to spend.
