Another basketball season has kicked off which means you might find me eating around the Air Canada Centre from time to time. Following a Toronto Raptors event, I went with some buddies to Jack Astor’s to fill our stomachs. We originally went to Real Sports Bar & Grill but it was pretty crowded for Sunday football and we didn’t want that. Jack Astor’s has been kind to us for as long as I can remember where unlimited pan bread existed and the Leafs were in the playoffs. It’s where we recently saw Team Canada win gold too.
The always entertaining Jamie Oliver is returning to Toronto! The Art of Cooking, presented by Food Network Canada, is a national speakers series featuring a collection of world renowned chefs and best-selling authors who will share an exciting blend of cutting edge thinking and experience on today’s most innovative cooking trends.
This means on November 18th, you can catch Jamie Oliver, one of the most popular chefs in the world, alongside Bob Blumer (Host of Food Network’s Glutton for Punishment) for a night of live and unedited action at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, beginning at 7 p.m.
Other than telling you about the event, the people at The Art of Productions Inc. have an offer for our readers: save $10 on the price of General & VIP tickets or $20 per ticket for groups of 5 or more by using promo code JN29. That is all, enjoy!
Le Papillon situated on Front Street serves up French cuisine with what I call an infusion of Québécois flavors to suit local tastes. With a décor resembling to a brasserie, this place is known to serve authentic savory crêpes and comfort classics like French onion soup. Here’s a recap of my recent visit.
This past weekend I attended Taste of the Danforth. Toronto is home to one of the largest Greek communities outside of Greece. Every August, Greektown would host this food and culture festival that would shut down a section of Danforth Avenue for 3 days. Vendors line up the streets with their spits and grills and cook away to feed a large hungry crowd. There’s barely no place to move within this thick flock and with line ups everywhere, patience is gold!
